For 2021/22 the tuition fees for the SCITT programme are £9,000. Most trainees are entitled to a loan for their fees via the Student Loan Company. Trainees do not need a confirmed place on a teacher training programme in order to apply for a Student Loan. You can apply with your preferred choice and you can change details later if required which will ensure that your student finance is ready for the start of your course.
Please note that there are no fees on the School Direct Salaried programme – but those on this programme are also not eligible for student loans or bursaries as they are employed as members of staff, not students.
Bursaries are not available for trainees on Primary ITT courses for 2021/22.
Additional Maintenance Bursaries and Loans
Maintenance loans are available to help with your living costs while you are on the programme and the amount of maintenance loan you can get depends on where you live and study. We expect the maintenance loan will be partly based on an assessment of household income (i.e. your own income and that of anyone you live with e.g. your partner or parents). The loan will have to be paid back when your studies are over and your income is over £21,000 a year. See www.gov.uk/student-finance-calculator for further information once it is released.
