Henry Maynard Training E17 is an accredited provider of Initial Teacher Training. We are based in Walthamstow and, as a school, we have successfully been involved in leading teacher training for more than 13 years. We provide initial teacher training leading to the awards of QTS and PGCE (validated by University of Brighton). We also offer the Assessment Only route to QTS. Why train with us?Our programmes give trainee teachers the opportunity to learn from, and alongside, experienced classroom practitioners. Trainees have the opportunity to carry out a range of training activities including observing experienced teachers; working with groups and the whole class; planning, teaching and assessing children and reflecting on their developing classroom practice. Trainees “learn on the job” and quickly develop a good understanding and practical experience of the full role of the teacher.
Trainees have experience in two different schools and in two key stages. The schools are chosen to provide a contrast to each other in terms of size, local demographic or approach to teaching and learning.
Centre based training takes place at Henry Maynard Primary School. Our lectures usually have between 20 and 30 people and other sessions are often delivered to smaller groups so there is plenty of opportunity for support and 1-1 advice from tutors. Assignments and tasks are designed to allow trainees to put theory from centre-based training into practice and to reflect on their training.
